Snow Days With Sorel

In my never-ending quest to fight being cold there is one thing that can make me drop all the complaints- a White Christmas.

Seattle and rain are always associated but the thing a lot of people don’t realize is that it doesn’t translate to snow very often. Our weather stays mild & wet and only gets cold enough for snow a few times each Winter. That means unless you head to the mountains there’s usually not snow for Christmas.

When it actually did start to snow on Christmas Eve evening this year we all rightfully freaked out. Waking up the next morning to a real snowfall was like a dream! My family doesn’t get too excited for the holidays so this was such a fun surprise that totally changed our moods for the day!

After presents we all bundled up an took the pups outside to play. Corey (my goldendoodle) hasn’t seen much snow in his life but he had a blast running around. We got Tina (my golden retriever, also known as Piggy) at the beginning of last Winter so she was pretty timid and shy then. This time though we found out that she LOVES snow. Whether it’s eating snowballs instead of chasing them or just laying down in the biggest pile she can find, she was in heaven!

This was also the first snow that I got to test my Sorel boots in. The thing with snow is that once your feet get wet, there’s no warmth or recovery. That means I need my boots to be the absolute best.

I was totally happy with the way they survived! Since they’re furry on the inside warmth was no problem at all, even with just one pair of socks underneath. And they stayed dry the whole time!

I haven’t needed snow boots too often in my life so I don’t have much of a comparison. But these Sorel boots are everything I need and I have no qualms about taking them on any future snow-related trips! They are a bit pricey but in this case I don’t think it’s an item you want to take a chance on. Quality is necessary and at least you can still have some style with them!

  1. I live in a similar climate in Victoria BC and absolutely loved that we had snow for a white Christmas for the first time in forever!! We seem to be getting a little bit more snow last year and this year and I’ve been thinking about investing in some snow boots. I’ll have to check out Sorel’s selection.
