Save vs. Splurge Spring Shoes ~2020

Here on Carefree & Coffee we’ve firmly agreed that there’s no such thing as too many shoes.

Right??!๐Ÿ˜…

It’s been driving me CRAZY only having space in the rental for a small section of shoes. I’ve been trying to swap them out season to season but it’s not enough! And I wear booties like year round so they’re always out and there’s never ever enough room. But….the framing in my new house is almost complete! Including my office which is going to have a massive wall for all my shoes and purses!!! I stood and stared in awe at the framework for like 5 minutes the other day after getting SUPER annoyed that morning at not being able to find a pair of slides I really wanted to wear๐Ÿ˜‚. Moving in is going to be like Christmas and a shopping spree all at once as I find everything that’s been packed away for the last year.

Spring is the perfect time to give your shoe collection a once over and figure out what you’re going to need once the sun comes out. But you don’t have to break the bank to get some new fun styles! Or maybe there’s a style you know you’re going to wear ALL THE TIME, and it’s worth the splurge.

PS. As I was putting this together I realized a bunch of my ‘splurges’ were Sam Edelman. Oops. I prefer to give you all variety but here’s the thing: the few pairs of shoes I personally have splurged on have all been Sam Edelman’s. I TRUST the brand for style, sturdiness, and most importantly comfort. If you’re going to splurge the shoes need to last both on your feet all day and more than one season. I KNOW Sam Edelman does that so I’m not changing the styles I found because I know I can stand behind them!

Black Studded Sandals

Save: Steve Madden Kady Gladiator ($59.99)

Splurge: Sam Edelman Eavan Studded Sandal($139.95)

Studs were SO big a couple years ago, then they went away but I guess know they’re back?? It’s not a style I’ve ever really loved but pairing it with a black gladiator sandal is a fun way to spice up a sorta basic shoe. This shoe style is very good for casual spring & summer everyday wear!!

Silver Buckle Slides

Save: Birkenstock Arizona Essentials Slide ($44.99)

Splurge: Birkenstock Big Buckle Slide ($139.95)

I got onto the slides train two years ago and NEVER LOOKED BACK. This one’s super interesting because it’s the same brand with the big price swing. The style’s more different then most pairs I try to find but it shoes you that Birkenstock can do it all. (maybe I’m the only one who thinks that’s interesting๐Ÿ˜…)

Brown Strappy Block Heel Sandals

Save: Kelly & Katie Daton Sandal ($44.99)

Splurge: Sarto by Franco Sarto Rache Sandal ($129.95)

Block heels are the absolute BEST for a sandal that’s both nice and comfortably. It’s cute and dressy but you’ll survive a longer day in them. Brown’s never been my favorite for anything but I’m obsessed with this Kelly & Katie pair!!

Black Mule

Save: Restricted Deco Mule ($44.99)

Splurge: Sam Edelman Natalya Mule ($99.95)

Mules are not something I’m getting on board with but judging by Instagram I’m the only one lol. Black is the perfect staple color, especially for a pair of shoes you can just slide on and go. I really love the woven detail in both of these pairs though that add a little texture.

Pink Ankle Strap Heel

Save: Marc Fisher Toria Sandal ($59.99)

Splurge: Sam Edelman Yaro Ankle Strap Sandal ($99.95)

I own the Sam Edelman Yaro in nude and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They’re my go to for most of the ~fancier~ events in life. Pink though is such a great choice for Spring!! I feel like we’ve firmly brought any and all pinks back into the fold and can wear them brightly with pride so go forth in your hot pink heels!

White Low-Top Sneaker

Save: Puma Vikky V2 Sneaker ($49.99)

Splurge: Sam Edelman Ethyl Low Top Sneaker ($99.95)

A solid white sneaker is a shoe you can never go wrong with. White shoes can be scary when you’re wearing them for like, real life. Here’s my tip though, Magic Erasers will clean them in a snap! I swear by this trick not just for my all white shoes but also any shoe with a white bottom/sole.

Snakeskin Bootie

Save: Fergalicious Charley Bootie ($49.99)

Splurge: Vince Camuto Gigietta Bootie ($149.95)

You cannot and will not get me to stop wearing booties year round. Sorry not sorry. Snakeskin is such a fun way to make a bootie stand out without making it lose it’s neutral-ness. (That’s not a word at all๐Ÿ™ˆ) The Gigietta bootie was EVERYWHERE last year, and I just couldn’t justify the price. These days you can find it on sale more and more though so if you are interested keep an eye on it!
