The beginning of a new year is a time to start fresh and make changes. I’ve ever really been one for making resolutions, but I do like to set a few big goals to work towards for the year. This year my main one is to train for and run another half marathon. Luckily that’s something that partners nicely with having a blog!! Because of this I’m starting a new feature- Work It Out Wednesday.
Every Wednesday will be a post that is somehow related to fitness and more specifically, running. It will range from my favorite sports bras, to picking the best race for yourself, finding the right fueling snacks when you’re limited by food allergies, etc. Anything I can think of that will be helpful for you, and for myself, and any questions you may have!
This will be my second half marathon which means I already feel much more prepared for what will come. The first one is hard because no matter how much your read or train, nothing really matches it until you actually run. Now I have some knowledge I’m happy to share but there’s still a lot more for me to figure out.
The funny thing about all of this is that I hate running. Even when I was itty bitty and going through intense conditioning to become a competitive gymnast running was the one thing I couldn’t stand. But when I had to let go of my sports I found out that I missed training for something, and that I needed that push for motivation to keep working out.
Doing a half marathon became a bucket list item that let me use those needs along with all the lessons I learned growing up. I may not like running but I know that I can still push myself to do these amazing things.
So let me know any topic you’d like to see in future Work It Out Wednesday posts! Especially if you don’t like running either, or have to deal with food allergies. That was one obstacle I had no idea would be SUCH a challenge and while I do feel better prepared for it there is still a lot of research to be done.
