Ten years ago my parents and I spent Memorial Day weekend welcoming in a new member of the family, a goldendoodle puppy named Macbeth. He was a cuddly little thing who made it easy to pick out of the litter when he crawled into my lap and didn’t let any of his brothers near me. Now, ten years and 90 pounds later, he still thinks he belongs in my lap, it’s not quite the same fit! My family loves spoiling our dogs so we tried this recipe for homemade dog biscuits a few years ago and they were a big hit. With just a few ingredients you’ll probably already have and only a few steps they’re really easy to make!
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup skim milk
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.
- Mix together peanut butter and milk. Stir in flour and baking powder until blended.
- Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut into shapes using cookie cutters. (Here’s a cute set from Amazon!) Place 2 inches apart on the cookie sheets.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
The great thing about making these at home is you know exactly what’s in them so you don’t have to worry about feeding your pups anything weird!
P.S. This is what my monster dog grew up to look like. We’re not entirely convinced it’s the same dog as his puppy pictures.
